Let’s Talk About Rudy’s on Lamar—BBQ That Hits Different in Austin, TX!

If you know, you know. And if you don’t—let me put you on real quick! I stopped by Rudy’s on Lamar Blvd in Austin and let me tell you… this spot is the real deal. No fluff, no fancy plating—just straight-up smoky, juicy barbecue that makes you close your eyes and say “mmm” after every bite.

With the brisket that melts in your mouth, and the creamed corn, the coleslaw with the white bread (that I only eat here) add the onions and pickles with a glass of sweet tea… Rudy’s is doing what Texas BBQ is supposed to do. Yes, it’s that good!

The vibe? Country-store feel with quick service, and picnic-style seating.

Whether you’re a BBQ lover or just hungry and curious—Rudy’s is one of those places you try once and find yourself craving again. So yes, I’ll be back! There are numerous locations in the vicinity, and I frequented the one in Round Rock the most. This particular location has to be one of the largest Rudy’s I ever visited. If brisket is your thing, make sure you ask for the moist brisket because there is a difference. I would even go so far as to say the two locations cut their brisket differently, this location slices the brisket really thin whereas other locations I visited when you request the moist brisket the cuts were larger.
