If you’re flying through DCA and need a quick bite that actually hits the spot, swing by Half Moon Empanadas. I wasn’t expecting much — it’s airport food, right? But these little pockets of goodness surprised me in the best way. The crust was golden and flaky, not greasy, and the fillings were actually flavorful. I had the beef and cheese, a family member ordered the same with a spinach and feta, and I went out on a limb to try the Nutella Empanada both were hot, fresh, and satisfying. Perfect size for a quick snack without feeling heavy before a flight. I must admit the Nutella one was a…

If you’re ever near Aldrich Street in Austin, do yourself a favor and stop by Lick Honest Ice Cream. This place was one of the highlights of my trip to Austin — local, fresh, and full of flavor you won’t find anywhere else. The moment you walk in, the vibe is clean and welcoming, and the staff actually seem happy to be there (which matters to me) which really helped to create the environment. Now let’s talk about the ice cream. It’s not just good — it’s thoughtfully good. I tried the Goat Cheese, Thyme & Honey and tried another flavor but I cannot for the life of me remember…

If you know, you know. And if you don’t—let me put you on real quick! I stopped by Rudy’s on Lamar Blvd in Austin and let me tell you… this spot is the real deal. No fluff, no fancy plating—just straight-up smoky, juicy barbecue that makes you close your eyes and say “mmm” after every bite. With the brisket that melts in your mouth, and the creamed corn, the coleslaw with the white bread (that I only eat here) add the onions and pickles with a glass of sweet tea… Rudy’s is doing what Texas BBQ is supposed to do. Yes, it’s that good! The vibe? Country-store feel with quick…

Steam Boys on Hwy 72 Madison, AL — A Flavorful Stop You’ll Want to Make Again! If you’re ever cruising down Hwy 72 in Madison and your taste buds are in desperate need of something bold, fresh, and satisfying—pull over and treat yourself to Steam Boys. Trust me, this is not your average grab-and-go spot. This is where comfort food and Asian street eats collide in the best way. 🥢 Let’s Talk About the Food… One word…the dumplings—pan-seared to perfection. I paired them with their chili oil (do yourself a favor and ask for it), and it was a flavor bomb. I opted for the Veggie Dumplings they were so…

A couple of my coworkers and I tried this place for lunch this week and we unanimously agreed that this was not it and we do not plan to return. The gentleman taking the orders is very nice and friendly with everyone who entered the door so it was not a customer service thing for me. Our decision was based strictly on the food. I am not a typical hot dog person but for the last couple of years when I did eat a hot dog it was a Hebrew National hotdog. I am not sure if the hotdogs are a blend of something, but I did not feel well…

In December 2024, I had lunch with my mom and daughter at la Madeleine on Cooper Street in Arlington, Texas. The restaurant, located in a shopping center near my hotel, was clean and well-maintained with plenty of parking. Upon entering, a greeter took our orders, and we paid for our meal at a nearby station, receiving drink cups and an order number. I ordered half tomato soup, half grilled cheese, and Creme Brulée. My daughter chose a spinach omelet with a croissant and plain cheesecake. My mom opted for the French Dip with a salad and praline-topped cheesecake. Although I don’t recall our drinks, we had a pleasant experience, and…

I was on a girls trip back in November and we were looking for a black owned business (BOB) to support during the trip. We locked in on Flavor Hill especially based on how close it was to our resort. We booked a reservation for Sunday Brunch and everything was good to go so we thought. As we were walking in a couple was singing praises about how much they enjoyed the food and the service, so I was so excited. I was not really hungry but I knew going into the facility I was going to write this review so I decided in advance I would order sides if…

My first visit to Insomnia Cookies in Tuscaloosa, AL was delightful. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the area and menu. I appreciated the variety of warm cookies available. Located conveniently near other food chains in town but on the outskirts of campus, the store and restroom were clean. Parking is available behind the building, with entrance through the door closest to the UPS store or the main drag. The cookies were warm and tasty. However, ensure you confirm your order if you’re looking for a specific type like the old-school peanut butter cookie, as my expectations did not match what I received. Despite this difference, the cookies were…

I had the pleasure of dining at Rosarios while I was in town for the 2024 Valero Alamo Bowl game between the Colorado University Buffaloes and the Brigham Young University (BYU) Cougars. There were some locals sitting to my right and when I inquired about a good place to try that would still be open after this game this was the first place mentioned. Although we were not able to make it to Rosarios right after the game on Saturday night, we did stop by for brunch on Sunday morning. Oh man was an amazing treat it was. We had an amazing time. For those of you who are familiar…
