If you’re flying through DCA and need a quick bite that actually hits the spot, swing by Half Moon Empanadas. I wasn’t expecting much — it’s airport food, right? But these little pockets of goodness surprised me in the best way.
The crust was golden and flaky, not greasy, and the fillings were actually flavorful. I had the beef and cheese, a family member ordered the same with a spinach and feta, and I went out on a limb to try the Nutella Empanada both were hot, fresh, and satisfying. Perfect size for a quick snack without feeling heavy before a flight. I must admit the Nutella one was a bit sweeter than I expected.
What I appreciated most was the service — friendly, fast, and efficient. No attitude, no long wait. Just good food and good energy, which is rare in an airport setting.
If you’re in a rush but want something better than the usual grab-and-go, Half Moon gets it right. I’ll definitely be stopping here again on my next layover.
